Why Every Young Person Deserves a Chance to Succeed
Our flight was delayed five hours so it would not arrive in Banjul before midnight. We were on our way to The Gambia to work at Starfish International, a school focused on empowering young women and men with holistic education and leadership programs. We were entering our fourth week in western Africa, a bit tired but so excited about the week ahead.
Why We Travel: Building Business, Community, and Understanding in Senegal
For us, travel isn’t just about seeing new places-it’s a core strategy for building our company, expanding our network, and deepening our understanding of the world’s most dynamic markets.
Our decision to visit Senegal began, as so many of our journeys do, with a simple “yes.” At the NBA All-Star Technology Summit, a conversation with Amadou Gallo Fall, President of the Basketball Africa League, sparked the idea. Encouraged by friends and colleagues already on the ground, we booked our tickets-knowing that every trip is a chance to build new relationships and discover new opportunities.

Connect: Building Bridges That Last
March 4, 2025
Over the past six months, I’ve had the privilege of attending several NBA events, reconnecting with dozens of current staff and alumni, and strengthening ties with former league partners and contacts I’ve met throughout my career. This process of reconnection has been both nostalgic and deeply rewarding, sparking an important reflection: Are our professional interactions merely transactional moments in time, or are we building something meaningful that will endure long after we’ve moved on?
Explore: How to Build a Career Full of Options
Feb 12, 2025
What if I told you that the key to creating more options in your career and life could be found in the way you approach travel? Think about it: when you travel, you’re constantly making decisions—choosing where to go, how to adapt to unexpected delays, and when to pivot when things don’t go as planned. These moments aren’t just about getting from one place to another; they’re about building the mindset and skills to create opportunities wherever you are.
Grow: How Travel Can Transform You into a Better Leader, Manager, and Professional
Change is like standing at the edge of a cliff. You know the leap could lead to something extraordinary, but the fear of the unknown can be paralyzing. Yet, every time I’ve taken that leap—whether in my career or through travel—I’ve discovered that the net does appear, and the rewards are far greater than I ever imagined.
Explore: Leadership Lessons from Accra
Last year, we visited Accra, the vibrant capital of Ghana, marking the fifth African country on that leg of our nomadic travels. Following unforgettable experiences in Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa, our journey continued with new insights and lessons.
The Power of Connections: Lessons from the Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Embarking on the Annapurna Base Camp trek is more than just a physical challenge. It’s an exploration of human connections. Over the course of eight days, we trekked approximately 115 kilometers (71 miles) and climbed to an altitude of 4,130 meters (13,550 feet). This journey tested our endurance, but it also offered unexpected moments of connection—strangers turned to friends, and we shared a sense of adventure that was deeper than the landscape itself.
Grow: Redefining Your Comfort Zone
Can you remember when you last stepped out of your comfort zone? Was it a deliberate choice, or did you just find yourself facing a challenge that you couldn’t avoid?
I woke up on the morning of day 3 of the Two Nomads trek to Annapurna Base Camp. That was a good start, as the prior 24 hours were a blur. The previous day, we woke at 4:30 am and climbed for an hour to see the sunrise on Poon Hill. It was windy and cold at the top but also incredible to see the 360-degree view of the Annapurna range for the first time.
